Hi! I'm La Mai Thanh, my friends call me MT, I have been living in Tiong Bahru, Singapore for the last few years. After my graduation from RMIT International with a bachelor's degree in Multimedia in 2005, I worked with various local companies to gain experience before moving permanently to Singapore in May 2006. Since then I have worked for MicroAppli and South Seas Inspection. Currently I'm looking for a challenging position as Web/Multimedia Designer.
I started my venture in this great country by working with MicroAppli, a start-up business under sponsorship and guidance from NUS University in Buona Vista. I was working in a small but passionate team of 6 people including a web developer, a symbian and few other marketeers, all NUS graduated. These guys created an application which can help sending images and multimedia from a mobile phone to other mobile phones through a website. I was recruited to design an interactive website for this purpose. Hence, I designed the new website called XShare, XHTML/CSS coded it and then handovered it to the web developer to work on his AJAX stuff. I stayed with this new and vibrant company for 3 months, completed my job and I also helped them to design and constructed some other small websites and done some printing design works before an opportunity to work with South Seas Inspection came along.
South Seas Inspection (S) Pte Ltd is a privately owned company with more than 300 employees worldwide, providing inspection services for the oil & gas industry since 1993. Mr George Slorach who is the managing director of the company has more than 40 years of experience working in this industry, and still working very well into his late 70s. Prior to my arrival, the company already engaged a web design company, then another web developer to design their website, but the company didn't get the website the way they really wanted it to be.
The company wished to develop an interactive website not only for its own staff to use but also for its major clients in the oil & gas industry namely Transocean, Atwood Oceanics, and Diamond Offshore to log-in to the web portal to view the interactive technical inspection reports for their rigs, derricks, and other drilling equipments. So, I and another web developer from India were invited in to work in this huge project.
I designed the interface of the website, constructed the whole website in SHTML before the web developer joined in with her ASPX skill and we worked together for more than 8 months to the completion of the website for the company in the late 2007. Since then, I stayed with South Seas Inspection, maintained the website, working on printing jobs, designing brochure, catering work procedures, and mostly worked with technical reports, providing interactivity with hyperlinks for the pdf technical reports, made it like a website for the company's clients. The company is moving to Tuas area, that means it would take me more than 3 hours travelling back and forth every day on public transport, hence I decided to join Rubicon Reserve Wines as a Web Designer
